I always liked the gyros here. Tonight I got a hamburger. My husband and mom also got hamburgers. They were AWFUL!!!! Worst burger in the area!!! The hamburger patties were super thin, and cooked rare. They were cooked on a grill, but had no flavor. I will definitely go to Bulldog in Grayslake or 3 Amigos in Lake Villa for a DELICIOUS burger!!!

Sammies is a great fast food option in Lake Villa. The food is reasonably priced and the inside seating is a nice addition (although it is mostly take-out). The food is not the healthiest and can be pretty greasy, but it is quick takeout food so not sure what one would expect. Personally, I think the beefs trump even portillos, but both are great options.

Good food reasonably priced. When the fries are fresh they are some of the better ones you can find. The chicken sandwich, hotdogs, and burgers are pretty decent. The gyros tend to be on the greasy side, but not too bad.

Very greasy, although not the worst food I've had. The people up here think its good, and not to be a snob, but having lived up here after living in the city 38 years, this place wouldn't get a second look from me down there. Funny thing is, they got their start in Portage Park. What a shame.

I agree with Greg, this place is hit or miss. Sometime's you might get a good italian beef, but your fries taste like crap. Then your fires will taste good and the beef sucks. It probably is one of the better places I have tried up here, since moving into the area 6 years ago. The lady at the counter is nice calls everyone hun.....still hoping for a portillo's up here there pricey but there food is always awesome......

We visited Sammie's for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised at this little place. Everything was very good and service was excellent . We would for sure return again.

Good place for a beef and a chicago dog!!

Eh, nothing special. There's a lot of hot dog places up this way but nothing compares to Portillo's in my opinion. Wish they would build one out this way.

Print coupons from the internet and get four Sam Burgers for roughly $6. They are char grilled and awesome. They don't over cook their burgers eithers so the beef taste is up front and bold. MMMMmmmmm

WHOA!!! The first reviewer is CRAZY!! (No offense!) As someone that grew up on the North Shore (Flukies, Wolfies, Superdawg, Poochies, Corner Hut, Mustards Last Stand, Michaels, Little Louies, etc.....), Sammies in Lake Villa stands up to ALL of them! Quality of their Vienna 8 to the pound natural casing with the famous "snap", the cleanliness, the employees......Sammies can certainly sit among them all. I will say, that after trying Grayslake, Round Lake Beach and Lake Villa locations, Lake Villa stands as number one.

Yeh, are you sure, first reviewer, you went to Sammie's? I grew up on the North Side, spent time all over the US and in several suburbs here. Like Michael M, I've been to Flukie's, DemonDawg, Superdawg, Sonny's, Bono's (in Bolingbrook AND Vegas)- even the DogNSuds when my family would visit Fox Lake. SAMMIE'S is simply fabulous!!! I have been going there for years, since my hubz started teaching at CLC. Nice staff, EXCELLENT service, OUTSTANDING food! I would recommend Sammie's to "Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives" and I don't recommend just anybody. The Italian Combo (my favorite sandwich on the planet) is simply the best, bar none, and that includes such places as Johnny's in Elmwood Park, Papa G's in Montgomery, and WeeDee's in North Aurora.

Sammies in Lake Villa is good. Haven't had one thing bad from them yet. I think the Italian beef is the best in the area and I'm very picky on my beefs! Very good chicago style dogs, gyros, and I also like their shish-ka-bob sandwich. Fries seem to be a little dry, but I have only done take out or delivery. Delivery is always very quick.

I am writing my review as I sit here enjoying my number one with fries and a Pibb. This place never disappoints me and each time I come here, I love it even more. The food is fantastic. The burgers and dogs are excellent and I would kill for a few fries from Sammie's. The service is always very friendly and they now have punch cards! For every seven burgers you order, you get the eighth for free. It's great that I don't live all too far from here so not only will I come back because it's close but also because the food and service is a five star. Always support local businesses - Sammie's is the place to go!

We were pleasantly surprised by the very friendly vibe and welcoming cashier at Sammy's. We were driving by on the way to a friends house and hungry so we stopped in for a quick bite. We ordered a super beef - $7.95 and split it - was just the right amount for two. They are not getting five stars because they did not ask if we wanted the beef dipped or offer any jus but that being said it was lean, tasty and the giardinera was really hot! The sautéed green peppers were nicely cooked so that they were tender and did not have that nasty raw green pepper taste that you find at many other places. The cashier, she might be an owner, was very friendly and moving fast and filling orders very quickly. If we pass by on this road again we will definitely stop in and try other items.

The Italian Beef at Sammies in Lake Villa is delicious. Extremely flavorful. I will be getting another beef sandwich soon. I am a regular. All their food is really good. They will cook your fries crunchy if you like them that way.

Horrible. The men's bathroom has mold in the grout and the soap dispenser is filthy. Floor in the bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned at all. Asked for an iced tea, I got a tea that tasted like 99% water with a little hint of tea. Next to the window where we sat there were hundreds of bugs dead and that's no exaggeration. The employees were load and heard frequent words like "pissed" etc. At one point an employee said to another "do you think if i drank this water I would die?" Other employee replied "haha, yeah probably". After that I stopped eating and threw the rest away along with my friend. Very unprofessional and very disgusting. This place needs better management and the health department to come in.

Great dinner type food. Quick delivery. They could use a little work on their tzatziki sauce. It's a little bland...well, really bland, but their gyros are still top notch. Never order a large fries because they are really good, and 90% you're going to end up finishing the whole bag and hating yourself afterwards. Great for a post game meal with the little ones.
